A brave cop shat in the eye kept on firing at the terrorists. A NRI business man with ailing father in Taj hotel room saved 150 kives by making a rope of bedsheets and making the guests escape the blind firing drawing nearer and nearer. Ayah saving the lone survivor jewish baby from terrorists. Rare courage in most dangerous situations by ordinary men.
Mumbai will never be same again. The people of this, never sleeping city will not have easy sleep for days and months to come. For some the entire life time will wake them up from the disturbed sleep screaming.
Just yesterday Mr. Zardari pledged everlasting friendship with India and its people. But if what happened today is the sample of friendship that he promised then India will prefer its neighbour as an enemy any time.
A lot of water has flown under the bridge since and Pakistan has admitted the role of persons from its soil in the ghastly Carnage of this beautiful city. As a token gesture raids to have been conducted and the master-mind of the attacks reportedly arrested to appease angry US and India and display its role against terrorism. But we all know that nothing more is likely to happen.
On the other hand it has refused to hand over the 20 most dangerous terrorists against whom the red corner notice has been issued by Interpol. It needs proof for trying them under the pakistani laws, as if any law exists in that country. Pathetic is the word one can use for such behavior of Pakistani leaders. Its ex-ISI Chief has been named by international investigating agencies as being responsible for Mumbai Carnage and having links with Al-quaida. But Pakistan shows no sign of shame.
The country which always has survived by begging help from World Bank, America and Islamic Countries and using the aid for subversive activities, rather than fighting terrorism and helping build industries and creating jobs for its poor and ignorant citizens who are fed by recital from Koran by the so called Imams and Ulemas. This only indicates the nadir of morality, decency and ethics of the Politicians and Military Junta ruling Pakistan today. The country has been made a blot on all the civilized nations of the world and this blot must be cleansed from the social fabric of the humanity.
The country must be declared as rogue country and terrorist State and all economic aid from all sources must be cut off without any further delay. And aid given, recalled. Its terrorist camps must be destroyed and ISI be named as a terrorist organisation.
America has spoken clearly on the possible action to be taken against these dastardly elements and enemies of human race but will it rise above its self interests to do what it has pledged?
Only time will tell.
As far as India is concerned it has been given the mandate to strike the terror camps in Pakistan if it is capable of such surgical operations. But if we know our leaders from past experience it seems rather unlikely, unless massive public support is gathered to compel them to act and prove that any attack on its soil from the foreign elements will be met with force decisively.
The Indian Leadership and its so call intelligence agencies have also been responsible for the attacks which could easily have been prevented with complete intelligence available to at least two of its agencies which chose not to follow up the reports and waited for the disaster to strike.
It is shame that no action has been contemplated against the erring Chiefs of these Agencies and the responsible officials. Heads of the Naval intelligence Wing, Coast Guard,IB, R&Aw had no moral authority to continue in office after this horrifying event. But none came forward to submit resignation and Government remained stoically silent about its action against them.
Of course my heart bleeds for Mumbai when I know that the substandard bulletproof jackets took the lives of at least three Lion-hearted soldiers in the war against terrorism. The gross corruption at all levels of the Government Departments has taken several civil lives at various times without invoking anguish or action from the Government. Their brave words and solace to grieving Mumbaikars do not merit any response . Its like sprinkling salt on sore wounds.
All the talk about creation of Federal Agency and revamping police force with sophisticated arms and appropriate training may sound like music to ears gone deaf with the explosions but its still a song. Almost entire Police force of the country has old 303 rifles and outdated bullets to fight machine guns and other automatic weapons. Police are not given any give firing practice for lack of ammunition.(Majority of Policemen however use lathis and some may never have seen any automatic fire arm). More often than not their lathi-victims are the hapless citizens protesting against some injustice by some departments, local leaders, corrupt officials
The elite forces are wasted by providing security to Criminal turned politicians (they are in majority) In case of any accident or arson and crime, Police is inevitably last to arrive at the scene.
My heart bleeds for Mumbai because people of this decent and great city are victims of the system that allows separatist leaders to create havoc on the common Indian citizen on basis of the language, region and religion by- passing all the chapter of constitution. These terrorists enjoy full protection of the ruling State Governments.
There are more than a million illegal immigrants from neighboring countries who are not only sheltered but protected and converted as citizens by providing them with appropriate documents by corrupt officals and their Political bosses to widen their vote-bank. where as People coming to this large hearted welcoming city from other states are targeted on the basis of language they speak.
State Government remains a mute spectator when the city is held on ransom by these goondas turned Politicians for their personal petty gains and interest.
My heart bleeds for you my beloved city and I am ashamed that I can do nothing more than join hundred thousand people of all races, religions, languages to take a pledge for defending my country against all such acts and persons who are anti-national and anti-human.
Wish I could do more.
Wish we all could do more.
